City Sightseeing Johannesburg launched its brand-new Green Tour this morning, 6 December 2016. The new tour showcases just how green and leafy Joburg is, and why it is known as one of the most wooded cities in the world.
The first stop and home to the new City Sightseeing ticket office is The Zone @ Rosebank. City Sightseeing also offers a shuttle service to this ticket office for customers staying at several hotels in Sandton and Melrose Arch.
“I believe the new Green Tour, with its departure point in Rosebank and hotel shuttle from Sandton, is going to make the City Sightseeing product much more accessible to tourists, business travellers and locals alike,” says City Sightseeing CEO Paul Nel.

Starting in Rosebank, the City Sightseeing red bus stops at Zoo Lake, the Johannesburg Zoo and the Ditsong National Museum of Military History. From there, the bus departs to Constitution Hill via Munro Drive in Houghton, one of the most scenic roads in Joburg with its picturesque views over the city's leafy, green suburbs.
As passengers get on the red bus, they receive earphones that they can use to listen to colourful commentary based on the area’s rich history.
The Green Tour takes passengers past popular points of interest, reflecting on Johannesburg’s past and present.
At Constitution Hill, passengers are able to hop on the City Tour to explore the CBD and surrounding areas, at no additional cost. The Soweto extension tour is accessible with the City Tour at an additional charge.
“Johannesburg’s City Tour and Soweto Combo, which have been running since 2013, have primarily been focused on attractions in the inner city and Soweto. With the Green Tour added to the mix, customers will be able to explore Joburg’s leafy suburbs too, making for a truly diverse experience,” says Nel.
